Driving a vehicle with non-Danish plates in Denmark

About the form

As a general rule, when resident in Denmark, you are not permitted to drive a vehicle with foreign number plates. 
 
However, you may be permitted to drive a vehicle with foreign number plates for a limited period if you:

  • have a loan car from an auto repair shop abroad because your own car is being repaired abroad. 
  • have to test equipment for vehicles or test a foreign-registered vehicle The test must be commercial. You cannot apply for a permit if you, as a private individual, want to test drive a vehicle that you are considering buying.
