Apply for a new registration certificate bypassing the Register of Motor Vehicles

About the form

Used by individuals and businesses to apply for a registration certificate for a vehicle which you have purchased but of which you are not registered as the owner, or if, as a registered owner, you have lost your registration certificate.

For example, you can use the form if you are in possession of a vehicle:  

  • that you have purchased without receiving the original and applicable registration certificate
  • that you have purchased at an auction
  • that belongs to the estate of a deceased person/insolvent estate
  •  for which you have lost the registration certificate. 

It is only possible to apply for a registration certificate for one vehicle per application. If you need to apply for registration certificates for multiple vehicles, you must create an application for each vehicle. 
  
A fee of DKK 100 is charged for a new registration certificate.  
You can pay the fee of DKK 100 using online banking or by visiting your local bank branch. Remember to enter the vehicle registration number or chassis number when transferring the amount.  

You will need this payment information to make the payment:

You must have made the payment before applying for a new registration certificate. Remember that you must attach the receipt for your payment in the application. 
 
What you need to submit the application:

  • You must have MitID to submit the declaration electronically.
  • Chassis number or registration number
  • Vehicle information, Type, make and model
  • Attach: The receipt for the payment
